CLINICS
ANTENATAL CLINICS
The practice offers antenatal and postnatal care. The clinics are held on Tuesday afternoons at both surgeries.
BABY CLINICS
The doctors and health visitor run baby clinics for child health surveillance and immunising your children and allow an opportunity to discuss other problems. Please ask for details at reception.
FAMILY PLANNING
A comprehensive family planning service is provided by the practice nurse or by the doctors in surgery hours. An appointment with the doctor is needed for the fitting of coils.
HEALTH PROMOTION CLINIC
The nurses and health care assistants are available by appointment for advice on smoking, weight control, menopause and help towards a healthy lifestyle. They are also available for blood pressure, asthma and diabetic checks in conjunction with the doctors.
MINOR SURGERY CLINICS
Certain surgical procedures can be performed by the doctors in the surgery. If you wish to have a minor surgical procedure, eg removal of warts and skin tags, please make a routine appointment with the doctor first for assessment.
CERVICAL SMEAR
Cancer of the cervix can be prevented and all female patients between the ages of 18 and 65 are advised to have a regular smear test with our practice nurses.
SMOKING CESSATION ADVICE
The practice offers support for those patients trying to quit smoking. Our nurses are trained to give smoking cessation counselling and offer nicotine replacement therapy. An appointment may be booked at reception.
COUNSELLING SERVICE
Patients wishing to be referred to our counsellors should speak to the doctor in the first instance. Patients should be aware that they may have to commit themselves to weekly counselling sessions at the surgery during working hours and should be prepared for this.
TRAVEL IMMUNISATIONS AND VACCINATIONS
Please make an appointment at least eight weeks in advance of your holiday to ensure adequate cover. A charge will be made for certain immunisations and vaccinations which are not covered by the NHS. We are an appointed yellow fever vaccination centre.
FLU VACCINATION
An influenza vaccination is particularly recommended for patients over 65 and those with heart, lung or kidney disease, diabetes, and residents of nursing and rest homes. Please contact the reception staff in October for details of the vaccination dates and to make an appointment. If you are unable to attend the surgery, a home visit will be arranged to undertake this facility.
OTHER IN-HOUSE SERVICES
We also have a phlebotomist who comes once a week on Wednesdays 9am - 11am (no prior booking, walk-ins only)
The practice also has a physiotherapist who comes in once a week. Referral is via a doctor only.
If you are a carer for another patient please come and see us as we can offer support and advice.
NON-NHS SERVICES
Certain services such as private sick notes, insurance claim forms, passport applications and some medical examinations are not covered by the NHS, and charges are made in line with BMA recommendations. The doctors also perform medical examinations for insurance, employment, driving licences, etc. A special appointment must be made.
